Conflict commonly occurs at work for any number of different reasons. These often include unclear or misaligned expectations, divergent goals or interests, stylistic differences, and miscommunication. Unmanaged or poorly managed conflict breaks down trust and negatively affects performance. Yet, effectively managed conflicts promote learning and strengthening of working relationships. We apply a structured conjoint approach that engages the parties in conflict to examine the sources of their conflict, identify the key triggers of their conflict, and facilitates their reaching agreement on actions to take to resolve future conflict constructively.
